Question about dwarf peach tree?

I have a dwarf peach tree I planted 2 years ago.

I was wondering if there is any special pruning I need to do in order to get it to grow out, instead of up.

I've heard that I need to tie it, and i've also been told to cut the top off....

help, suggestions comments please.

Thanks!!!

On a two year old I would only snip the ends to an outward growing branch.

Have you selected your three or four branches the first year? If so prune anything that is growing in the center of the tree.

But basically prune as little as possible until it reaches the size you want it.

Peach trees don't cycle fruit resting a year between crops. Apples do that.
Reply:When it's about as tall as you want it, cut off the ends of the branches. This will cause side shoots to grow instead of the main branch, resulting in a bushier tree. Also note that fruiting trees generally go through an every-other-year cycle of growth and fruiting. One year, you get lots of fruit. The next year, you get less fruit, but more plant growth. Then the following year, the fruit grows on the new growth from last year.
