Peach seed!!?
It needs to be stratified, just a fancy term for planting the seed out side for the winter and letting the cold break the seeds dormancy. RScott
Reply:You aren%26#039;t supposed to remove the seed from its hard protective shell. The seed is raw. Chances are that it will rot away.

Most commercial peach trees are created by grafting. You can grow a tree by planting a seed, but be prepared to wait a while for fruit.
Reply:It is eaiser to to get a 1 year old peach twig cutting while the tree is dormant about a pinkey size thik and a foot long and plant that, that will create a new cutting. The seed needs to be treted and I will rot.
Reply:Best way to start a peach from seed is to plant the whole pit outside. The cold will crack the pit and the new seedling will grow.

An even easier way is to take soft wood cuttings and root them with rooting hormone or graft it onto a hardy stock.
