Why are Band Aids "peach" colored?

I am by no means someone that tries to find the lack of political correctness in things...

but I have always wondered why bandaids only come in one skin color?

They are made to look like skin..to blend in with their surroundings..

but there are a lot more skin colors the %26quot;peach%26quot;

I know they make clear ones, but even the pad part is %26quot;peach%26quot;

anyone know why they are all one color?

Is %26quot;Band Aids%26quot; the %26quot;man%26quot;?

Why are Band Aids %26quot;peach%26quot; colored?
%26#039;Band-Aids%26#039; is SO the man! And don%26#039;t let the man get you down!

I%26#039;m white and band-aids don%26#039;t match me! I feel sorry for black people. They get cut too, ya know.
Reply:Huh - Never thought of that one....I wonder if non-peach people are offended by the lack of non-peach band-aids. I think someone may just be able to work a lawsuit out here.

Honestly though, I think that band-aids probably got their color from the wraps things - you know - that people use to wrap up their knees, ankles, wrists... they are kind of peachy. Maybe that material was always peachy and band-aids evolved from that. It%26#039;s just a guess though.
Reply:WTF Difference does it make ? It probably dosen%26#039;t mean anything just like all the little gripes people come up with. I use electrical tape and paper towers when I get cut because they are in my toolbox. Why is Electirical tape black ? It dosen%26#039;t match my skin ?
Reply:Making only one color = lower production costs. However there is a product called %26quot;Ebony-Aid%26quot;. They are band aids that come in 3 or 4 shades of brown or black skin.
Reply:no there are like dinosaur ones and other ones like that too so...
Reply:There are hundreds of different colored bandaids. Even ones with cartoons on them.

Could be the first band aids tried to emulate gauze. Or that they simply wanted to blend in with flesh of those who could buy them (given that they came out in 1920s or so it would be rich white people). The first decorative bandaids came out in the 1950s but it is likely that our society already had a mental set of what a band aid looked like. And thats what we wanted.

Thats like a lot of things in our culture, we resist change because those things integrate into our culture.
Reply:I like the bright colored ones. I think their standard model should be plain white.
Reply:yup- band aids are part of the whitey conspiracy.

OR- around 80% of America is white, and the band aid company wants to make a profit

p.s. now band aids come in every color of the rainbow- does this indicate some shadow alliance with the gay community?
Reply:That%26#039;s a good observation. Well, I suppose if people don%26#039;t want to use the %26#039;peach%26#039; band aids they cna always go for the spiderman or flinstones ones.
Reply:Its not just Band Aid%26#039;s its all adhesive bandages which is the proper name for your name brand %26quot;Band Aids%26quot; but they are so %26quot;The Man%26quot;
Reply:yeah i always had the doubt too. One day i bought %26quot;Disney Princesses%26quot; Band-Aids and also wondered: why isn%26#039;t Pocahontas featured with the rest of the Princesses? Is she not worthy of the title as well?

yeah it makes you wonder.......
Reply:We have mickey mouse ones. They have a red background. You can get them at target.
Reply:idk, i don%26#039;t think they are trying 2 be racist (or colorist) maybe that just so happens 2 be the cheapest, or maybe they feel that the average american has that color (but even i don%26#039;t, and i don%26#039;t know many people who match that peach color... good question! i think they should make all skin color bandaids!!! God Bless!
Reply:Sorry, but you are wrong. Band Aids come in clear as well, to match all skin tones. The %26quot;tan%26quot; ones were the original color, but as time goes by, so does our level of sensitivity to other races and cultures. Band Aid sells clear ones, as do other bandage makers.
Reply:wow...actually, now they make some that are dark colored I think geared towards darker skin colors....which i think is great...you should be able to find them where the peach band aids are...and there are always clear ones too.
Reply:Because most companies like that cater to White America or people with slight melanin in their skin, so the default color is catered to that peachy skin tone. I myself dont wear band aids because there ugly first of all and they attract more attention because of the color contrast.

I think the Band Aid Company should cater to all types of complexions by who am I to complain right?
Reply:majoirity of ppl are white in usa i guess

some are blue though
