If I make peach jelly, do I have to peel the peaches or can I just leave the skin on?

I was wondering if it would change the jelly if I leave the skin on the peach.

If I make peach jelly, do I have to peel the peaches or can I just leave the skin on?
peel peaches and pit them cut them into quarter and they make lovely jam
Reply:Jelly is made from only the fruit juice. Jams and preserves are made from the whole fruit, so you must mean jam. As for the peel I wouldn%26#039;t recommend it. I%26#039;m not an expert but I do know the pieces of skin are going to keep a different texture that may not be pleasant in your jam and it definitely won%26#039;t spread as well.
Reply:dont take the peel off because thats what makes the jelly turn into jelly the peel has this stuff call pectin need to make jelly....or you can peel them and add pectin yourself
Reply:The skin will cause your jelly to be a bit bitter, it is best to peel them.
Reply:For jelly, remove the skins.
Reply:You need to skin and pit the peaches if you want a clear product. It will make the jelly bitter if you leave the skin on.
Reply:peel then dry the skin with a little bit of sugar finely slice when dry and serve with jelly
Reply:now why in the world would you want to leave the peelings on for anyway?
Reply:PEACH JELLY

Peel peaches. Cover them with water and boil them until juice is well extracted. Press through jelly bag, strain and measure. To each pint of peach juice add 1 pint apple pectin and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Bring to a boil and add 3/4 cup sugar to each cup of juice. Boil rapidly to jelly stage. Pour into hot sterilized glasses.

HOPE THIS HELPS! ;-)
Reply:Dip in boiling water and they slide right off.
