What is the best way to remove a peach pit when baking peach pies?

I made my first ever fresh peach pie. The pie turned out okay, however, I had the hardest time ever slicing the peaches. Is there a trick to removing the peach%26#039;s pit? Thank you.

You can also use ripe nectarines . The nectarines have two advantages:

They%26#039;re a freestone fruit so all you have to do is run a knife around the meridians and twist both halves to extract the %26quot; stone %26quot;

They don%26#039;t have to be peeled-less work
Reply:If you can find freestone peaches, use those. It sounds as though you had cling peaches, and those pits are tougher to remove.
Reply:I slice it much similar to how you would slice an apple (like an X if you are looking down on the peach) and then peal the slices away from the pit. Ripe peaches will peel away very easily from the pit.
Reply:Slice it in half and pick out the seed. I hope you have already

removed the skins if you are making a pie.
