i%26#039;ve kept a peach faced love bird and a masked lovebird for 5 years since they were young. Recently i%26#039;ve got another peach faced love bird. i assume it%26#039;s a young bird. i tried to mixed him with my the other 2 parrots but seem that the new comer wasnt very welcomed. he seem to be interested in being friends with them, trying to approach them whenever he can. But despite that he was always being threatened by the 2 parrots. what and how should i do such that the newcomer will not be so left out?
How to mix peach faced lovebirds with the others?
You just have to go very slowly and see what happens. There%26#039;s a good chance that after 5 years of being bonded to just one another, the 2 current birds just don%26#039;t want to be bothered by a newcomer. It happens sometimes no matter how well you introduce news birds.
Reply:There may be nothing you can do. Some birds just do not want to share their home with a new bird. Putting him in the cage with the other two could result in serious injury or death. Keep him in a separte cage. You can keep it close to the other cage if you like, but your birds have already proven they don%26#039;t want him in their cage right now. Keeping the cages close together may help, and in time they may even accept him. Don%26#039;t push the issue, if they don%26#039;t get along , there is not much you can do. Don%26#039;t leave them all outside the cages unless you are in the same room. Please read my profile
