How do I keep ants off my lovely peach tree?

Last year our peach tree gave about 150 peaches.. this year I already counted (estimated :o) about 600 peaches on that one tree. However, we were only to get about 50-60 ripe ones last year before the ants ate the rest. I don%26#039;t want that to happen again.. obviously, I don%26#039;t want to use any chemicals to prevent that from happening. Anyone know any non-chemical ways to prevent ants/insects from eating your fruit trees?

I have had this same problem on our peachtree, I used a soap/water solution and it seemed to work for me. I think that the ants are attracted to the aphids that where sapping the sap from the blossoms, once I sprayed the solition the aphids dispappered and then so did the ants. hope this helps

completely non toxic
Reply:Try Tanglefoot, as far as I know you can get it at any nursery or perhaps Lowes/Home Depot

It%26#039;s sticky stuff that the bugs can%26#039;t cross. You do have to prune any branches that touch a fence, wall or anyplace the ants can crawl up to access the tree that way.
Reply:You might try putting a ring of vaseline jelly completely around the trunk closing off all routes.
Reply:Whitewash the lower part of the trunk. You have to repeat it once in a while though, specially after it rains.
Reply:Aardvark....
