Is it OK to cut down a peach tree if it gives NO peaches but has green leaves???

it has been going on for 8 yrs and today my dad cut it, i was really sad, so is it ok to cut a tree when it has no fruits but still has green leaves every spring??





By the way it has given a "little baby peach tree" :)

That's sad. My grandfather wanted to cut down one of our trees because, as he said, "it wasn't doing anything." It had green leaves, but was a little sickly.





My mother told him he couldn't cut down the tree, so he started watering it instead. The next summer it flowered and gave us more plums than we could eat. We hadn't even known it was a fruit tree. It still gives us plums every year now.
